Thesis Defense: Grant Ogilvie; Measuring the Effects of the Leaves on Stalk Strength and Dynamic Response in Maize

Grant Ogilvie's thesis and work in the Crop Biomechanics Lab is focused on maize. He has worked on both determining the significance of the leaf sheath in preventing stalk lodging and executing vibration testing and analysis on stalks. Grant will defend his thesis on Monday, March 31st, 2025 at 4 PM in the BYU Weidman Center.

Thesis Defense: Joseph Carter; Automation, Improvement, and Sensitivity Analysis of 3D Parameterized Maize Stalk Models

Joseph Carter is a second year masters student in the Crop Biomechanics Lab. His work focused on the computational modeling of 3D parameterized maize stalk models using FEA. Joseph’s work may enable future researchers to design maize stalk geometry to increase stalk strength. Joseph will defend his thesis on October 22, 2024 at 3:30PM in EB346.
